The ‘Ensemble of Memories’ is a polyphonic gathering of people sharing immigrant knowledge and experiences. For this educational project, De Appel has invited people of the Dutch Kurdish community to whom the themes of the Hiwa K exhibition genuinely resonate. On 25 november the Ensemble of Memories will make music with the Kurdish-Iraqi brothers Nariman Goran and Monir Goran to discover Hiwa K’s exhibition. The brothers will engage with the theme’s of the exhibition through their musical and poetic language. The songs and lyrics will act as a memory tool. Together we will share individual or collective memories and investigate how time, place and culture intermingles with music.
Some parts of this session will be in Dutch, Kurdish or English.
Free with a valid entrance ticket to the exhibition.
