The diverse practice of Rabih Mroué (Lebanon, 1967) spans theater, performance, and visual arts. He is a key figure in the new generation of artistic voices in Lebanon. Employing both fiction and in-depth analysis to engage with his immediate reality, Mroué explores the responsibility of the artist in communicating with an audience in given political and cultural contexts, using his country’s history as a starting point.

Rabih Mroué received the Prince Claus Award in 2011.

This program is initiated and coordinated by EYE Filmmuseum, Prince Claus Fund, IDFA and Amsterdam Art.

To access EYE Filmmuseum take the ferry marked ‘Buiksloterweg’ departing from Amsterdam Central Station (3 min, free of charge).
