Ibrahim El-Salahi, By His Will, We Teach Birds How to Fly No. 4, 1969, pen, ink and wash on paper, 38 x 56 cm, 15 x 22 1/8 inches (V02571)
The Prince Claus Fund and the Amsterdam Fund for the Arts (AFK) present works by three visionary artists at three locations. Each is innovative, minimalist, sharply critical yet infused with wit. Ibrahim El-Salahi (Sudan, 1930) has defined modernism in Africa and the Arab world, while conceptual artists David Hammons (United States, 1943) and Stanley Brouwn (Surinam, 1935 – 2017) have uniquely influenced the contemporary art scene.
