Since it was founded in 1988, it has been Akinci’s aim to be a platform for young artists as well as offer a solid representation for artists with an international reputation. Located in the center next to Weteringcircuit, Akinci’s goal is to spot artists at an early stage of their creative development, and devote full attention to their innovative power.
Akinci represents artists whose working practice spans a range of current media, reflecting the diversity of communication means available within contemporary visual art. Akinci’s vision is thereby to reveal the experimental pulse running through the exhibition programme and to showcase the precision with which their artists investigate their ideas.
