De Ateliers is an independent artists' institute, founded in 1963 by and for visual artists. The monumental building in the centre of Amsterdam offers twenty-three spacious studios. These are placed at the disposal of young, talented artists from within the Netherlands and abroad for a two year working period. Participants of De Ateliers develop their work to the highest level, supported with the feedback and guidance of internationally acclaimed artists. This way, De Ateliers seeks to stimulate the conversation and exchange between beginning artists and their established peers. Next to this unique format, De Ateliers offers lecture series, various exhibitions, technical assistance and an extensive network. As an internationally renowned institution, De Ateliers receives financial support from the Ateliers Support Fund, the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture and Sciences and the Mondriaan Fund.
