Frontier Imaginaries is a roving art and research foundation, incorporated in Amsterdam and with editions to date in Brisbane, Jerusalem and New York. Through a programme of exhibitions, conferences and publications, Frontier Imaginaries is dedicated to study the ongoing significance of the frontier within the global era. Its projects bring together artist, scholars, and social movements through new experiments in artistic production, and in partnership with outstanding presentation platforms.
In 2017 Frontier Imaginaries undertakes a program of three expanded symposia featuring talks, screening, performance and visual display. These are partnered with the Van Abbemuseum in Eindhoven, the North Stradbroke Island Historical Museum on Minjerribah off the coast of Brisbane, and a joint collaboration with e-flux and Columbia University in New York. The Frontier Imaginaries publication series is distributed worldwide through Idea Books. The series features in-depth readers documenting each project edition, as well as artist monographs such as Summoning Time: Painting and Politikill Transition in MURRILAND!that documents the Frontier Imaginaries commission of a major new painting series by Gordon Hookey, featured in documenta 14, and published together with Griffith Art Works in Brisbane, and the Van Abbemuseum in Eindhoven.
